PRESS RELEASE

19 May 2008
Brooklyn Cricket Organization Supports 2008 AIDS Walk New York

Pioneering young cricket organization sees the importance of increasing awareness among its young members.
New York – 19 May 2008 – Wanderers United Sports & Cultural Association Inc., a pioneering young cricket organization joined the tens of thousands on Sunday May 18th in raising funds and walking the 6.2 miles to show support for the fight against AIDS,
With the Caribbean facing the highest rate of H.I.V. infection outside of the Sub-Saharan region of Africa, the organization feels it has a responsibility to its members here in Brooklyn to expose and educate them on the affects of this disease.

“Oftentimes this is an issue that is not discussed in our community. Many of our young people seriously believe that it can not happen to them. Many still hold on to the misguided belief that the disease is a homosexual disease. Our hope here was to bring about an awareness for our young people to some harsh realities surrounding this disease and to show them first hand the magnitude of lives that it has affected.”  Rawle Jackman, President & Director, Wanderers United Sports & Cultural Assoc. Inc.
Wanderers United competes in the American Cricket League here in Brooklyn.
